About the Brand
Being a Black woman, I experienced racial discrimination in the workplace more times than I wanted to experience it, so in 2014 I decided to stop working for agencies & I took agency over my own work. I decided to bloom into my best self & help others to bloom as well by bringing more awareness to important cultural issues. Because of my personal & professional experiences, I have a passion for bringing awareness to the cultural issues impacting the Black community, with my biggest passion being in the area of Black Maternal & Infant health. Because Black women & Black babies have such alarming rates in the realm of maternal & infant mortality, this is an area of focus for me that is crucial to the uplifting of my community. I provide support to the community by offering mental health services through individual, family, & couples therapy, & I additionally offer workshops & trainings to other therapists & professionals who work within the Black community.
Over the years I have also provided clinical supervision to therapists in training, & clinical consultations with seasoned licensed therapists. I have monthly newsletters & a podcast that I share with the community, with both forms of connection offering some encouragement & awareness to my readers &/or listeners. Most recently, I presented nationally at the Association for Black Psychologists Annual Conference on the topic of pregnancy loss & postpartum amongst Black women, continuing my passion of bringing awareness to this disparity experienced in the Black community. My work is inspired by my personal & clinical experience & the desire to uplift anyone who comes into connection with me, thus the reason my business motto is Bloom Into Your Best Self. . .
My business is different because I have a clinical expertise in the area of Black Maternal & Infant Health, I have worked with Black women who have experienced disparities in relation to maternal & infant health, & I am a Black woman who has personal LIVED experience with the disparities in Black Maternal & Infant health. Additionally, I am a certified continuing education provider through the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapist (CAMFT), which means I can provide continuing education units to certain licensed professionals who attend my workshops & trainings. My business is different because it is difficult to find a Black woman who has experienced many of the disparities that Black women go through when they enter motherhood, & who also holds the professional credentials to provide clinical support & education.
